45th year! Christmas Holiday Show 2013
Dear Vendor,
You are invited to participate in the Christmas Holiday Show, sponsored by the Valley Arts and Crafts Club. This year marks our 45th annual Christmas Show, so this is a well-established event. The location is in the basement of the Monroe Townhip Building in downtown Tipp City. This same weekend is the official start of the Christmas season in Tipp City and the merchants in town will have open house and extended hours. There is good traffic for the show, and another popular feature is our Christmas Cafe, with homemade food served right in the basement with the vendors.
This show features original and quality art and handcrafted items made by the exhibitor. Various media could be presented, including paintings, photography, stenciled items, ceramics, and flower arrangements. No dealers, agents, food or flea market items will be allowed. This also includes prepackaged manufactured items.
This is a one day show. You are expected to set up and to maintain your booth for the entire show. There are limited spaces for this juried show – limit of 2 spaces per application. Spaces are approximately 8 ft by 5 to 6 ft deep (table setup), but sometimes the spaces are larger. Tables and chairs will be provided at no extra charge.
If this is your first time entering our show, please send photos or slides representing your work, or email pictures to Lilian Nichols at lnichols12@woh.rr.com. Photos/slides will be returned to you.
This year we will again offer a postcard picturing a collage of our vendors’ items for your distribution, and so will need good digital pictures. Every vendor will receive postcards in time to advertise this show. The postcard will actually be made up in the summer, so if you are interested in having an item pictured on the card, please send a high quality jpeg file to lnichols12woh.rr.com Photos used will be at the discretion of the designer. Booth fee is $35 for Valley Arts & Crafts members and $45 for non-members – $40 if it is received by August 1. Fee must be sent with application to confirm your space. No post-dated checks will be accepted. Please make checks out to Valley Arts and Crafts Club, and mail to Valley Arts and Crafts Club, P.O. Box 294, Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Confirmation will be by phone, mailed or emailed to exhibitors.
Exhibitors are responsible for their own sales tax and new materials tax, if needed.
Set-up of displays will be Friday, Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 pm. If necessary, you can also set up Saturday morning before 9 a.m. Please call if you have a problem with this time frame.
There will be help on Friday after 4 p.m. to help carry your boxes into the hall, and also on Saturday evening. Donations are appreciated for our young helpers.

2013 Poetry Jam!

The 4th Annual Poetry Contest and Jam was held during the month of April with the winners of the various categories being presented with gift certificates from Jay and Mary’s Bookstore at the Poetry Jam on April 30th at Benkins’ Studio 14 Gallery. In addition to the awards presentation, the winners and other participants read their poems and the audience enjoyed a rendition of Sara Holbrook’s “Wham! It’s a Poetry Jam!” – a performance poem.

CANAL MUSIC FEST

PHIL DIRT & THE DOZERS . . . America’s premiere “Rock ‘N R’oldies” review (and the most popular vintage rock and roll show in the nation) will help you recapture those wonderful days!

Tipp City Area Arts Council will host its 4^th annual Canal Music Fest on Saturday, June 8 in the City Park at the old ball diamonds behind the pool. This year’s concert will present the band: Broken Lights followed by featured band: Phil Dirt and the Dozers. Concert gates will open at 5:30 PM with the event closing at 10:00 PM. Concert goers should bring chairs and/or blankets. Remember: the concert will go on – rain or shine!

Beer and wine will be sold at the event (sponsored by the Downtown Tipp City Partnership) and several food vendors will be available.

Due to the Ohio Arts Council grant that TCAAC received, three additional concerts have been planned for the second Saturdays of July, August, and September. All remaining concerts will be located near or in the Roundhouse in the heart of the City Park.

Historic Tipp Paint Out Workshop

Historic Tipp City Paint Out Workshop Coming this October!

For this year’s Plein Air workshop, TCAAC has retained Fran Mangino, a watercolorist and resident from Westerville, Ohio. Fran Mangino received her B.S. in Art Education from Kent State University. She has studied watercolor with such artists as Bess Alexander, Peggy Brown, Carl Dalio, Don Andrews, Alex Powers, Arleta Peck and Joan Ashley Rothermel. Fran is active in the Central Ohio Watercolor Society, The Ohio Watercolor Society, and The Ohio Plein AireSociety. Her work can be seen throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia and has been published in the 2001 December issue of “The Artist Magazine” and in volumes 8 and 9 of F&W Publications “Splash”. This one day Plein Air workshop with Fran will be Friday October 11, 2013, the day before the Historic Tipp City Ohio Paint Out. Registration for this event will be posted on our website at a later date.

Student Art Contest

TCAAC 2013 Student Art Contest and Exhibit, What’s in the Woods?, is a free contest open to all students in the Tipp City and its surrounding areas. The deadline for artwork entry is May 24. Grade categories are K-1; 2-3; 4-6; 7-9; and 10-12. Artwork will be adjudicated by a committee and awards will be made at the June 6th reception. Student art will be exhibited at Benkin’s Studio 14 from June 6th through July 7th. For more details, rules and entry form, go to our Get Involved: Student Art Contest Link.

Art Adventure: PLAY!

COMING THIS SUMMER! Art Adventure: PLAY! TCAAC will be sponsoring an art event for children ages 3 through 14 to be held Saturday, August 3rd, 2013, at the Tipp City Marketplace (formerly Farmer’s Market). ALL types of the arts - from visual to culinary to performance – will be available for children to participate in. We are currently looking for sponsors and volunteers.
